Watch Brooklynite Choir singing The
David Bowie Medley with Britpop Choir and The Urban Children's Choir
You don’t have to be a hipster, but you will end up moving your hips.
Our second adult choir, started in 2015, Brooklynite is the lively younger sibling to Britpop Choir—basically all the attitude with none of the accent.
Close-knit, cheerful and, we admit, a little kooky, we’re around 50 people who like nothing more on a Thursday night than to sing our hearts out, laugh a lot, sing some more. They’re songs you know—from pop to rock to indie, Prince to Sia to Death Cab for Cutie—and, let’s face it, can’t get out of your head. But it’s not about the song so much as the sound—the big, beautiful sound—and the chance to make it together.
You don’t have to read music, just really love it. You definitely don’t have to be a pro. And you don’t even have to be from Brooklyn, as long as you’re able to find Gowanus. (But you do have to be 18, just because.)
